Civil War??

The world is already small enough. From Stanley Milgram's Small World Experiment, we learnt that we are separated from each other by a maximum of SIX-DEGREE SEPARATION. Now, in this small 'OT world' we are living now, shouldn't there be a greater need to live in peace and harmony?? Is there such a dying need to argue and fight over so many things?

Firstly, how do you explain 'class identity'? According to Oxford(1991), identity is defined as 1. who or what something/somebody is 2. state of being the same. Well, I really don't see how that comes up to "unwillingness to mix with others" or how it can mean "over-powering".

Sometimes, we have to be practical, rather than being idealistic. We always have to adapt to the situations we are in, and it really doesn't make it any better with the "Last Minute Lecturers" we have. Maybe if you look at things more carefully, its not that we are 'anti-social' or as how it was put, 'STRONG class identity'; time is our greatest enemy many times and the fastest way to get things done is to work with people we can coordinate really well. Perhaps, its time for you to wake up and face reality - Time was not on our side.

Next, the 'roles' designated weren't done recently. Well, at least for some of us, there was some reshuffling. But the leaders were decided way beforehand, and there wasn't exactly much reshuffling in that area. Since the idea of the class coming up with themes doesn't appeal to you, why in the first place no INITIATIVE was taken to at least think of some? As you can see... things are one-sided again. Does that mean one is trying to be in control and overpowering? Maybe, if you look at the other side of the coin, it could be because nothing was done and hence, one side has to always take the initiative at least, or NOTHING will ever be done!

Also, it doesn't help if only one particular group is taken into consideration. Please open your eyes wider and look around you. There are other people hard at work, and need TIME to get the work done. We aren't all superwoman/man, and we all know how 'last minute information' feels like. And if you had wanted things done not entirely our way, why in the first place did you not take INITIATIVE to do, or at least THINK of some things? And now, there's only TALK TALK TALK.

"All talk and no action, only results in noise-polluted commotion" (Choo, 2005).

So please remember this saying, ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS. And a little advice "Do Unto Others As You Would Do Unto Yourself"...

When a fire breaks out, you don't go pouring oil onto it. That's the logic, isn't it? Why is it there are people who simply don't get it? Nothing is going to go anywhere if all we do is argue and fight, and adding on to it with ALL TALK (with sarcasm) does not help. As mentioned above, action speaks louder than words. Maybe if initiative was taken, perhaps the 'fight' wouldn't have broken out in the first place.

To sum it all, it was a real disappointment. Why is it things are always view so subjectively, so one-sided? I am not trying to put across that we are totally not at fault, but perhaps its about time to understand what "RESPONDSIBILITY" , "INITIATIVE" , "COOPERATION" , "REALISTIC" and "FRIENDLINESS" means (For some people, at least). Who doesn't want peace and harmony? Why do you have to make 'peace' and 'harmony' so far from reach?

Maybe I'm simply being over-sensitive, going overboard. I need enlightenment....

Note: This is in no way directed to a single individual. If you feel offended in anyway.. too bad. La la la... :P

hmm... banner that i'm not too sure if it is really necessary. What do u guys think??

As for name tag materials, there shld be enough left overs from the art exhibition (from nizar) and I do have some leftover vanguard). So maybe juz get safety pins for the name tags if there's enough money. If not, double sided tape.

Flag making materials.. tt one muz really consider it carefully. Who's gg to be bringin e colourin materials?? Was thinking since we need so many things rite.. why not like give everyone a "to-bring list"...like those u get when u go to camps?

So maybe the list could include stationary/colorin materials, water, change of clothes, safety pins (??) etc etc. So maybe then we can cut down on some expenditure?

Btw.. no offence taken for the postin yar. I'm not angry, juz not very happy (haha) and kinda disappointed that's all :)

i was suggesting to let the grps come up with something creative. Either we "bury" some materials for the flag making, or not provide anything at all. So they have to search for stuff they need. If not we can provide them with the creatures for the respective groups and see how they wanna present it as a flag? The most impt is the colour, I guess...to differentiate the grps.
